InQpharm launches its latest innovation Glucosanol™, a carbohydrate blocker, on 15 October 2009. This is the first and only carbohydrate blocker to enter the weight management market with a European medical device licence.
With the rising trend in global obesity, Glucosanol™ has been developed to provide consumers with an additional choice in their weight management regime and give them an alternative to having to remove carbohydrates from their diet. Backed by comprehensive studies and a Class IIa medical device licence, Glucosanol™ has therapeutic and medical claims in Europe for weight management, treatment and prevention of obesity.
Glucosanol™ is a natural carbohydrate blocker that helps reduce the calories absorbed from dietary carbohydrates to manage blood glucose levels and food cravings, which helps with weight loss. It contains a proprietary glycoprotein complex, PhaseLite, that is clinically proven to reduce the absorption of up to two-thirds of the carbohydrate in a standard meal containing 600 calories. Its active ingredient is pure, highly-concentrated and a derivative of GMO-free plant origin. It has an established safety profile, without any known harmful side effects.
“Global obesity is a current problem and, in many countries, carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes and pasta form a significant part of the staple diet. Carbohydrates are an important source of energy but they can also be responsible for weight gain, as people find it hard to resist their favourite carbohydrate-rich foods. Some consumers choose low-carbohydrate diets but Glucosanol™ offers an alternative for those who want to keep carbohydrates in their diet and manage their weight,” comments Vivian Cheh, Marketing Director.
“This is another great new innovation from InQpharm and I am pleased that we are the first in the market to introduce an effective carbohydrate blocker. Launched in two markets – UK and Austria – our distribution partners have shown a great deal of interest in this product and initial feedback is that Glucosanol™ will be very successful.”
