InQpharm is granted the BioNexus status by the Malaysian Biotech Corporation (BiotechCorp), an agency reporting to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia. BiotechCorp has a mandate to help nurture and accelerate the growth of biotechnology companies in Malaysia.
The BioNexus Status is awarded to qualifying biotechnology companies to support both their R&D and commerce ventures. Incentives for BioNexus status companies include tax breaks and research grants from the Malaysian Government.
Commenting on the award, Thomas Hafner, CEO of InQpharm, said: "InQpharm is in its third year in Malaysia. Being in a very active growth phase, we are pleased that the Malaysian government is not only supportive of the biotechnology industry but is also providing the impetus for further development. Furthermore, the Malaysian government understands the symbiosis with biotech communities and the different stakeholders. We, at InQpharm, certainly appreciate the 'nurturing environment' we are enjoying in Malaysia, primarily due to BiotechCorp's drive. In recognition of this support, we have recently relocated our Global Operational Headquarters to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With an increasing level of activities, an efficient and nurturing environment is essential to the achievement of our goals. We thus anticipate many more successful years ahead in Malaysia."
